BELOIT – A public graveside service for Rev. John Grummon will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit.

Rev. John Grummon, 80, died at home in Great Bend on November 21, 2023, following a three year illness. After graduating from Ottawa University, John married Dee Anne Baldwin. They celebrated 58 years of marriage. John graduated from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in 1969 and served as pastor with First Baptist Church, Marysville, Kan. for five years and with the Beloit-Simpson Baptist Parish for 22 years. John and Dee Anne raised two sons in Beloit: Daniel (class of ’92) and David (class of ’95).

With his natural gift for pastoral care, in 1996 John followed a career desire, becoming a certified chaplain. He served as chaplain for Central Kansas Medical Center and Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, Great Bend, for 14 years, until retirement in 2014. Then he volunteered for GBHH & Hospice until his health issues prevailed.

Following the cemetery service, John’s family will meet at the First Bank of Beloit community room with refreshments and a welcome to visit and share memories with anyone who can come.
