DOWNS – Mathew Francis Hake passed away at the age of 92, on October 2, 2019 in Downs, KS. Junior as he was known to those who knew and loved him lived a full life. He was a beloved brother, uncle, and kind hearted friend.

Mathew, "Junior" was born in Cawker City, KS on May 31, 1927 to Mathew and Elizabeth (Smith) Hake and was a life long resident of the area. His parents passed down their passion for farming and helping him become a highly respected farmer and rancher.

He was preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Katharyn and Dorothy; brothers, Raymond and Melvin; nephew, Gary Reiter; and very dear friend, Lois Otto.

Survivors: sister, Mildred Bachofer (Frank); nieces, Lynn Cobey (Dana), and Linda Saathoff (Lynn); nephews, Tim Hake (Marilyn), Terry Hake, Mark Bachofer, Ron Reiter (Marcia), and Larry Reiter (Connie); and many grandnieces and grandnephews.The Family wishes to extend a special thank you to Erick and Buffy Kadel who helped care for Junior, and assisted with his personal and professional affairs during the last years of his life. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City, and member of the Knights of Columbus.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, with Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments, Beloit. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2019
