SALINA – Mary Ann Broeckelman Sahlfeld, 66 of Salina, passed away February 17, 2019. She was born on December 22, 1952, in Oakley, Kansas, the daughter of Bill and Emelyn (Moellering) Broeckelman. She married her husband Jerry on September 20, 1975 in Salina, Kansas. On October 21, 1976, she gave birth to their only daughter Trina. Over her 40 plus year career, she worked in the accounting departments of Younger Accounting, Kansas Cellular, Smoky Hill Education Co-op and Clubine & Rettele before retiring in January of 2018. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, Ambucs and Kiwanas. She also enjoyed her Bunco and Calendar Girls groups. Mary Ann enjoyed sharing her creative talents by doing anything crafty and found joy in helping others plan and decorate for many important life celebrations.
She is survived by her husband Jerry, daughter and son-in-law Trina and Brett Heinrich of Salina and grandchildren Benjamin and Reese Heinrich; Siblings Gregory (Jane) Broeckelman, Michael (Cindy) Broeckelman, Robert (Bunny) Broeckelman, Kathy (Bob) Kuntz, Linda Van Horn, Tom (Roxy) Broeckelman, Joe (Cathy) Broeckelman, Susan B. Taylor, Margie (Jerry) Schoenfeld, Donna Gonzalez and Jim (Tami) Broeckelman. Also surviving Mary Ann are her numerous nieces and nephews and great- nieces and great-nephews and her brothers and sisters in-law from Jerry’s side of the family with whom she loved very much like her own siblings.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents Bill & Emelyn Broeckelman, her loving in-laws Fred & Lucille Sahlfeld; Brothers-In-Law Ed Sahlfeld, Bill Sirles and Buddy Van Horn and a nephew Adam Sahlfeld.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday February 24 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 and vigil services will begin at 7p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 25th at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina with burial at All-Saints Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mary Ann Sahlfeld Memorial Account, which will later be shared between the St. Mary’s Parish addition project and to other local organizations near and dear to Mary Ann’s giving heart.
