BELOIT – Larry Frank “Skip” Griffin passed away peacefully early morning of January 24, 2019 at Ambassador Health, in the presence of family members. Skip was born in Beloit, KS on February 29, 1936 to Glen and Viola (Heeler) Griffin.

Skip graduated from Beloit High School in 1953 in Beloit, KS. Where he played football, basketball, track and diving on the swimming team. He also attended Kansas State for a short period of time.

Skip moved to Lincoln in 1961 and went to work for Randolph Oldsmobile as a car salesman. Later he was promoted to the position of Service Manager until 1982 when he left Randolph Oldsmobile. Over the next 21 years, Skip was always involved in the automotive industry. From selling vehicles and as Service Manager at Park Place Pontiac-Cadillac. Skip retired in 2003 after many years as a Sales Representative with Mechanics Choice Automotive & Industrial Supplies.

Skip loved attending his granddaughter and grandson’s school events, dance events, and sporting activities. He could always be counted on to pick his grandkids up after school, then make sure they made it on time to their after-school activities, all while listening to his favorite music of 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s.

Outside of his family, Skip’s one true passion, was golf. Throughout the years, he truly loved playing all of the city golf courses every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Skip’s greatest joy was playing with his sons, and all of his golfing friends. For many years there were annual golf trips with his golf buddies to various locations like Arkansas, Texas, Iowa and Lake of the Ozarks. Another one of Skip’s passions was playing cards, his most favorite game was four point pitch with his sons and golfing buddies.

Skip’s strength was always interacting with people, his outgoing personality allowed him to make “conversation” and “friends” with total strangers. Skip lived most of his life as a Nebraskan, but his heart was always a Kansan and a huge K-State fan.

Skip is survived by his wife, Deb of Lincoln, sons L. Chris Griffin of Manhattan, KS; daughter, Pam (Mike) Koltz of Edgar Springs, MO; Kurtis (Marta) Griffin of Lincoln; Steven of Lincoln.
