DODGE CITY - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth L. Cox, Sr. He passed away January 12, 2026, at the age of 89.
Born November 23, 1936, in Bloom, Kansas, to Ezra and Mary (Davis) Cox.
Kenny married Esther Tieben, on April 23, 1960, in Windthorst, Kansas. Together, in Dodge City, Kansas, they raised three children and built a home rooted in kindness, faith, hard work, and friendship. He was a giving person who would help anyone in need including family, friends and neighbors. He served in the National Guard and volunteered at AMBUCS and the Salvation Army. He retired from Farmland Industries in 2002 after 29 years.
His joy was spending time with his family and watching Kansas State sports. He loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, no matter how far away they were. He is survived by his children, Debbie Cox of Dodge City, Ken Cox and partner, Lisa Douglass of Lenexa, Kansas, Connie (Jeff) Adams of Beloit, Kansas; three grandsons, Jordan (Cierra) Adams, Jadon Adams, and Jace Adams; two granddaughters, Claire (Jason) Haeusser and Kate Cox; and three great grandchildren, twins Ellie and Easton, and Koe Adams. He is also survived by two sisters, Gladys (Bobby) Woolwine and Mary Jo Schweitzer.
He is preceded in death by his wife Esther of 65 years, who passed away on December 11, 2025, his parents, his sister, Ruth Rubenich and three brothers: Thomas Cox, George Cox and Otto Walters.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 10:30 am with a Rosary prior to Mass at 10:00 am at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City with Fr. John Stang presiding. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Windthorst at 1:30 pm with Fr. John Forkuoh presiding. There will be no public viewing.
