James Allen “Hank” Pillard

BELOIT – James Allen “Hank” Pillard, passed away at age 76, on Oct. 5, 2025, at Wichita’s Via Christi Hospital with his family at his side.

He was born Oct. 8, 1948 in Marysville Kansas to Raymond and Edna Pillard (Broadston).

James attended Bigelow Elementary and graduated from Frankfort High class of 1966.

His Military service included Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 as a member of the Army’s 101 Air Born Division, 2nd Battalion, 319 Artillery. He was Honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant w/2 Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Metal, Vietnam service and Campaign Medals. After his discharge he took up residence in Beloit Kansas.

His lifelong passion of working on vehicles and helping people served him well as he was always known as an Ace Mechanic and the man to go to. He operated Hank’s Auto Repair in Beloit for over 17 years. He also loved his guns and riding his motorcycles when he could and was an outspoken supporter of Veterans. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW club.

James is survived by: his lifelong partner, of 40 years, Joy Grotz of Beloit Ks.; Daughter Katherine, Nicol Home, Glasco, Ks.; Brothers Gary, Marysville Ks, & John, Salina Ks; Sisters, Delores Campbell, Baldwin City, Ks. & Georgia Marish, Blue Rapids Ks.; 5 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, & several Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

James was preceded in death by Parents Raymond & Edna, Brother Jerry (JP) and Sister-in-Law Vicki (wife of Gary).

Per his request there will be a private interment for his family.
