Harold Leslie Wooton, 92, Topeka

TOPEKA – Harold Leslie Wooton, 92, Topeka, Kansas passed away on February 21, 2020. He was born at home in Burdette, Colorado on February 17, 1928 to Vernon A. and Reta Rose (Finley) Wooton. After graduating from Cawker City High School in 1946, Harold joined the Army Air Corp in December 1946, and was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1949. He married Ina Maxine Soudek in Lawrence, Kansas on July 22, 1950. She preceded him in death.

Harold was a hard worker and worked for 32 years for the State of Kansas for the Treasury Department and Department of Administration before retiring in 1990. In his spare time, he enjoyed hot air ballooning, watching television, especially NCIS, and above all, loved his family and time spent with them. Harold was a proud member of American Legion Post 1 in Topeka.

He is survived by daughters, Joyce Wooton, Janet Wooton, Jayne Wooton, and Jill Glidewell (Jim), all of Topeka; grandson, Steven Wooton (Carmen) of Lemoore, California; stepgranddaughter, Jessica Glidewell; and six greatgrandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine; son, Steven Leslie; brothers, Alvin, Eldon, and Richard Wooton; and sister, Rosemary Koster.

Memorial service was 2 p.m. on Friday, February 28, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where visitation was one-hour prior. Harold requested casual attire for all who attended.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Helping Hands Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
