BELOIT – Esther Emma (Bayer) (Reynolds) Delimont, the daughter of Herman and Sarah (Scott) Bayer, was born October 30, 1932, on a farm in Rice County Kansas near Chase, and she passed away on October 1, 2026, at the Mitchell County Hospital – Resident Care Center in Beloit, Kansas at the age of ninety-three. Esther was the second born of eight children.
Esther grew up on the family farmstead in Rice County, where she attended the rural country grade school and she graduated from Chase High School class of 1950. Esther then attended Ft Hays State University, where she earned her teaching certificate and she taught the four upper grades at a country grade school. In 1952, Esther married James (Jim) Reynolds, and they made their home on a farm near Rush Center, Kansas. To this union two children, David and Diana, were born. Esther was active with the farm, 4-H, and church. Esther and Jim farmed in Rush County for more than twenty years until Jim passed away in 1973.
Esther worked at Travenol, in Hays, and while working, she returned to Fort Hays State University, where she earned a master’s degree in business. She worked as an Industrial Engineer until Travenol closed in the mid 1980’s. In 1983, she united in marriage with Joseph (Joe) Delimont. and they made their home in Lebanon for the next 40 years. Esther worked in Downs, at the post office and after retiring from postal service, she was librarian at the Lebanon Library.
Esther was active in the Lebanon community. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. For many years, Esther enjoyed teaching Sunday School and playing in the Bell Choir. Additionally, she served the church as the treasurer. Esther was a member of BPW, the Over 60 Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.
Preceding her in death were her parents Herman and Sarah; husband Jim Reynolds; husband Joe Delimont; daughter Diana (Reynolds) Hembree; five sisters and one brother.
Esther is survived by her son, David Reynolds and wife, Ila, of Ingalls, Kansas; son-in-law Bob Hambree of Garden City, Kansas; Leta (Delimont) Landwehr and husband, Mike, of Wichita, Kansas; Rany Delimont and wife, Kristy, of Victoria, Kansas; Wiley Delimont and Travis Eckles of Olathe, Kansas; Also surviving are grandchildren, Ryan Landwehr; Diana (Delimont) Staley and husband, Tony; Chris Landwehr; Cuyler Delimont; Nathan Delimont and wife, Alison; and Jason Hembree; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Services will be on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Williams-Kuehn Funeral Home in Red Cloud starting at 10:30AM with the Rev. Les Ellis officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Rush Center, Kansas.
