CONCORDIA – Charles F. Boden passed away on May 29th, 2020 at the age of 90 years old (formerly of Simpson, KS). He was born SW of Tipton, KS to Michael & Cecelia (Brummer) Boden on December 24, 1929. He graduated 8th grade from Holy Corners Grade School, SW of Tipton.
He married Lucille Sporleder on April 11, 1964 at St. John's in Beloit. They were blessed with three children Richard, John and Anna, and nine grandchildren.
He served as Seargant First Class for the US Army during the Korean War for 21 months from 1951-52. He earned the Purple Heart twice, Bronze Star and a badge for Combat Infantryman for his service during that time. He worked construction for many years for Brown Construction in Downs and Purcher & Dutton Construction out of Norton. From there, he drove grocery delivery trucks for Hollaway Wholesale in Beloit until retirement, all the while working his own farm in Simpson then helping other farmers in the area.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Mike & Cecilia, brothers Nicholas, Ignatz (Bud), Jerome and twins Michael and Edgar.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Lucille Boden of the home, sons Richard Boden (fiance Damiana Chavez) of Kearney, NE, John Boden (wife Kari) of Concordia, KS, daughter Anna Schuster (husband JJ) of Olathe, KS, sister Lorene Townsend (husband Chuck) of Beloit, KS. He enjoyed spoiling his nine grandchildren: Gunner, Conner and Ryan Boden of Concordia, KS, Michele Boden of Kearney, NE, Evan, Ethan, Emma, Elizabeth and Elliott Schuster of Olathe, KS.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Wednesday, June 3 at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit. A rosary service will be at 10 AM Wednesday at the Church. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 7 PM Tuesday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to VFW Post #6242. Roberts Family Funeral Service, Beloit is in charge of arrangements.
