Harry Harrison

Glen Elder — Harry Harrison died on April 30, 2024, at the Downs Nursing Home in Downs, Kansas.

Harry Harrison was born in 1934 in Glen Elder, Kansas and he was 89 years old. His parents moved from Glen Elder to Topeka when he was one year old. When Harry was 10 years old, he started coming back to Glen Elder every summer to work on his Uncle Irvin Neff’s farm. After graduating from Topeka High School, he found out he was medically unable to join the Army but was happy that he could still be allowed to join the Kansas National Guard and he participated with them for many years. He attended Barber’s School in Oklahoma City and then barbered in Topeka.

In April 1955, Harry married Patricia Ellis, his high school sweetheart, in the Nazarene Church in Topeka. After a few years, Harry’s Uncle Irvin asked him to take over his ground since he was going to retire and they moved to Glen Elder in 1962. Harry was extremely happy doing the work of a farmer and he loved his cow/calf business. Harry and Pat were blessed with three children and the boys were a huge part of the farm work.

Harry sang for numerous funerals and was also the song leader at the Glen Elder Friends Church for many years. He loved his church and he loved the Lord with all his heart.

Harry is survived by his wife, Pat of Glen Elder; son Greg Harrison and his wife Beth of Beloit; son Todd Harrison and his wife Shannon of Olathe; daughter Kim Harrison of Glen Elder; grandchildren Matthew Harrison of Olathe and Daniel Harrison of Overland Park.
