BELOIT – The Jewell Lincoln Mitchell (JLM) Transition Council recently sponsored its annual Career Exploration Day in Beloit. Career Exploration Day is an event that gives high school students the opportunity to tour area businesses to gain workplace knowledge and learn about career possibilities.

MCRFD #3 builds new Wildland Fire Fighting Unit

MITCHELL COUNTY – On April 10, Mitchell County Rural Fire District (MCRFD #3) completed a process that has been two years in the making. A new wildland fire fighting unit was put into service. The process started when it received a used Stewart & Stevenson LMTV military chassis from the Kansas Forestry Department. There was no cost for this chassis, with the stipulation that it be converted into a firefighting apparatus.

Dee Daugherty is being recognized for her exceptional generosity and thoughtfulness in creating and donating bags for occupational therapy patients who use a walker. Her selfless contributions have made a significant impact on the lives of those undergoing therapy, providing them with a practical and much-needed accessory that enhances their mobility and independence. The Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems Occupational Therapy Department provides a range of services for both inpatients and outpatients aimed at helping them achieve optimal independence and participation in their daily activities. The vision to offer walker bags to patients was inspired by Deidra Burks, previous occupational therapy director. She shared with Dee how they would benefit her patients. From there, the journey began with Dee using her talents to create practical and stylish walker bags that would empower mobility aid users with enhanced convenience.
