Helen Lucile (Cazier) Folkerts, 90, Riley

RILEY – Helen Lucile (Cazier) Folkerts, 90, went to be with her Savior August 25, 2017, at Autumn Hills in Riley. She was born August 6, 1927, at Christ’s Hospital, now Stormont Vail Hospital, in Topeka to Joseph Russell (J.R.) and Ruth (Dickson) Cazier. Her kind, compassionate, loving, servant heart will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Growing up on a farm southwest of Topeka, she attended Waveland Grade School and Washburn Rural High School in 1946. She graduated from Kansas State University, in 1950, majoring in Home Economics and Secondary Education. 

Having met on a blind date, she married Donald H. Folkerts on August 6, 1950, at the Danforth Chapel on the K-State campus. They were blessed with five children.

The visitation was held at 10 a.m. and a memorial service followed at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, at First Lutheran Church, 930 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan. A graveside service will be at Peace Lutheran Church, R.R. 1, Albert, on Thursday, August 31, at 1 p.m.          

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, First Lutheran Church, Autumn Hills, or the Kansas Society for Children with Challenges in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, Kan. 66502.
