Wear Blue Day supports child abuse prevention / NCK CASA tee shirt orders due Friday

BELOIT –  As April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a  "Wear Blue Day" is planned and will kick off the month on Friday, April 6 during the National Wear Blue Day.

Blue tee shirts are available for purchase for the event and businesses and organizations are asked to take photos of their groups wearing their shirts to post on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, #nckcasablueday.

Beloit Elementary will be participating in the National event along with Concordia Elementary, Glasco and Miltonvale.

Abuse cases filed in 2017, per county included Cloud 77; Mitchell 32; Republic 14; Lincoln 14 and Jewell 6. These are only the new cases filed in 2017 and do not include ongoing cases from previous years.

NCK CASA is part of a national program that recruits, trains and supports community volunteers to advocate for these children and speak up for their best interest. Once CASA volunteers are trained they are appointed by a judge to a child’s case. With staff support, CASA’s are able to make a difference in the lives of children in the communities we serve.

If interested in supporting "Wear Blue Day", call 785-243-8200 (Concordia) between 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and ask for Julie or Beth at 785-822-8499 (Beloit). Yard signs, and blue pinwheels are also being sold.

A Super Hero Fun Run will also take place on Saturday, April 7 and information and registrations will be distributed soon.
