County discusses bridge projects
BELOIT – The Mitchell County Commissioners met in a short session on Monday. The sole issue on the agenda was the weekly report from Director of Public Works Dale Housh.
Housh announced that K Road will be closed between 140 and 150 Roads beginning today. It will remain closed over approximately the next two to three months for a bridge replacement project.
Housh also reviewed the condition of two other county bridges with the commissioners. He discussed potential, but yet unknown costs, for any needed repairs. He promoted a possible shared responsibility bridge project with Jewell County on the county line road in northwest Mitchell County. There are currently grant programs available for bridges, and the county plans to apply for funds to improve the bridge near the Jerry Wessling residence on 320 Road.
The Mitchell County Commissioners are next scheduled to meet on Monday, July 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the Mitchell County Courthouse.
